Manuscript metadata
The metadata editor, opened from the button in the editor header, records information about the edition and the manuscript in collapsible sections.
The editor is not a separate database: everything entered here is written into the
document’s <teiHeader> and saved with the project. When a TEI file is imported, its
header is read into the metadata editor.

How the metadata reaches the output
Section titled “How the metadata reaches the output”Because the metadata lives in the <teiHeader>, it is part of the TEI-XML export
automatically. XSLT stylesheets can read it too, so an HTML or PDF export can show the
title, repository and shelfmark without any additional work.
For an imported file, the header read into the metadata editor is the file’s own header. Editing metadata changes the header in the same round-trip manner as the rest of the document: see Importing existing files.
